AAUW branches have had a wide range of interest groups. If you are interested in visiting or joining a section, connect with the group contact. For forming an interest group contact a board member. Tech Trek for Girls: Contact Natalie McClure
AAUW SV Tech Trek will combine sub-committees to select middle school girls from the three school districts to attend Tech Trek in 2026. New members help this committee choose girls that will best be successful in a week at an interactive camp of STEM activities. To join contact Natalie McClure.

Public Policy: Contact Amy Hom

AAUW’s Public Policy intrigues you? This new branch interest group is starting out by writing postcards to infrequent voters in November 2025 elections. Yes, some states have off-year elections in 2025! Check out Reclaim Our Vote to learn about the value of this activity.

Crafts: Contact Marge Shively

Are you a crafts aficionado? Knit? Crochet? Embroidery? Needlepoint? Paper craft? Bring whatever you want to work on: new or unfinished craft or sewing projects, or something new. We enjoy chatting and generally all do something different. We meet in each other’s homes on the 2nd Thursday of the month, 10:30 am.

Lunch After Morning Forum: Contact Julie Pearce 

A community activity. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, meet at the Morning Forum in Los Altos. After, choose a place for lunch. A series subscription ($185) to The Morning Forum of Los Altos is required for attendance at all presentations, which are held at Los Altos United Methodist Church. Visit the Morning Forum website to subscribe. Members may attend in person or via private livestream. Events are held late Sept. through early June. Begun by a group of AAUW members 75 years ago, Morning Forum has long been independent of it’s origin. 

Here’s what’s coming up: Sept 16: Lamplighters Music Theater. This lively group captivates audiences with the timeless magic of musical theater and brings classic operettas to life with heart, humor, and virtuosic passion. Celebrating our 75th season with Gilbert and Sullivan’s Music. Sept 16 event season kick-off is free.

Mah Jong: We have two groups:

  • Beginners and advanced players are invited to play Mah Jong. Meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 7:00 pm at members’ homes. Contact Marcia Baugh
  • Mah Jong players play at the Los Altos Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. just off South San Antonio Rd. Meet every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 10:30 am-2:30 pm. We have permission to use the facilities in the indoor lobby area to play. Weather permitting, we can play outside. All levels welcome. Contact Myra Orta

Drama Reading: Contact Millie Saxman 

Do you love theatre? Drama Reading has always been of interest to members from both branches. It is designed for around the table reading. Meets on the 2nd Monday of the month from October to May at a member’s home. Contact Millie for information and location.

Mystery Readers: Contact Julie Dalrymple

Silicon Valley and Sunnyvale-Cupertino members are invited to meet on the 3rd Monday of the month at 1pm. This group picks an author, and members read one or more books of their choice. One member reports on the author. Contact Julie for information and location

Mystery Books: Contact Marcia Baugh

Mystery Books? An author/s or topic is pre-selected for discussion every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Join even if you haven’t read the book.

Bridge : we have several groups:
  • Daytime Duplicate Bridge: Second Friday, 1:30 – 4 pm; Third Monday, 1:30 – 4 pm. For information contact Hilda Crady.
  • Morning Bridge: 1st Thursday, 10 am – noon. For information contact Val Hatton.
  • Couples Party Bridge: 3rd Thursday at 1pm. The group is mostly still couples, but welcomes singles as subs. For information contact  Marge Shively
