While our name “Silicon Valley” has no actual town or post office, our branch serves the communities of Palo Alto, Mountain View and Los Altos and nearby communities in the northern part of Santa Clara County, California – a REAL place.
Mission:
AAUW promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal change. In support of this mission, the Silicon Valley Branch sponsors several girls to Tech Trek camp each year and also raises money for the AAUW programs.
We have several Interest Groups where members can pursue shared interests and become better acquainted. We welcome new members – please see the Membership page for more information.
The Los Altos-Mountain View branch helped start the Friends of the Los Altos Library, Community Health Awareness Council, Music for Minors, Tech Time science program for local Girl Scouts, Tech Trek science camp for girls, AND AAUW Connections community cable programming. Tech Trek is an on-going branch project. Our branch is also one of 17 organizational members of Los Altos Community Coalition, a broad-based politically neutral collaboration, with biweekly programs on alternate Fridays from 8:30-9:30 A.M. meeting on Zoom. 75 years ago, branch members organized the Morning Forum, which has brought internationally renowned speakers on a variety of topics to Los Altos to share their expertise and knowledge twice monthly on Tuesday mornings. It continues today.
See our Contact Us page for a list of branch leaders.
