In the summer of 2023, the Palo Alto and Los Altos-Mountain View branches of AAUW completed the merger process and are now known as the Silicon Valley Branch. Find out more about AAUW’s national organization and AAUW California.
AAUW Palo Alto was chartered in 1930 and has had strong membership throughout its history, being recognized for our significant contributions to the advancement of education and equity for women and girls. In 1953, the Los Altos-Mountain View branch began as a spin-off from Palo Alto – and now we are back together. Our branch is part of California AAUW and the American Association of University women, based in Washington, D.C. is our national organization.
We sponsor community action projects and promote public policy advocacy. Our events and general meetings focus on current educational issues, women’s health, women’s history, and international issues. We have a wide variety of interest groups that meet monthly or more often. By becoming involved with our branch, you can mix fun with purpose while advancing our mission of gender equity.
AAUW, is open to all graduates who hold the associate, baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university or who are Registered Nurses.
AAUW’s Diversity Statement: In principle and practice AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in the organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin or disability.
